Beam House Interior
To honor the promise I made earlier here are some interior shots of the Beam House. I hope y’all enjoy.
The entrance has the bathroom, office, a closet, family room, great room, and stairs comeing off of it.
The fireplace is at the far end of the great room. As can be seen the glass lets alot of light in and really sets off the heavy stone fireplace.
The kitchen area is in the great room. You can also see the dinning area which is the right side of the room.
The family room is facing the same direction as the kitchen. The garage and office are to the right of this room.
The 1st floor bathroom has a closet in the back and is directly to the right of the stairs in the entrance.
For the last image of the first floor I did a shot of the stairs. On the left side is the door that goes to stairs to the basement, or a closet if there is no basement. On the right is the door to the bathroom.
In this shot you can see the stairs and the door to the second bathroom. The windows u by the ceiling provide lots of light while providing plenty of privacy.
The second floor bathroom is double the size of the 1st floor one. It has a much larger vanity and a bath tub with a shower.
This is the bigger of the 2 bedrooms, it also has a bigger closet and a balcony.
That’s it, I skiped a couple of rooms, the office, 2nd bedroom, and a couple closets, but none of them are very impressive. I hope y’all like it.

Black Belt Patriotism: How to Reawaken America

Finally got around to ordering this book. I have been a long time reader of Chuck Norris’s weekly column over at Human Events.
From the Inside Cover
Wake Up, America! It seems like wherever you turn these days, the news is bad. Illegal immigrants are swarming over our borders. Our nation and American families are crippled by debt. We remain vulnerable to Islamist terrorist attacks. Judges ignore the Constitution and instead legislate from the bench. Faith and traditional values are under incessant assault from the media, leftist lawyers, and the liberal establishment. The core message of the Declaration of Independence–that everyone has a God-given right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness–is under threat from liberals who deny the right to life (or even the very idea of God-given rights), and who think the answer to every problem is a government program. They think that God, if He exists, might not know best, but liberal-run government certainly does. If you’re worried about the direction our country is going, you’re in good company. Chuck Norris remembers a better America–an America of faith, freedom, and respect for tradition, history, and human life–and in Black Belt Patriotism he shows what we need to do to reawaken the American dream, reignite the American spirit, and give our children and grandchildren the America they deserve: an America of freedom, opportunity, and faith. In ten practical, down-to-earth chapters, Norris gets back to basics, mining the insights of our founding fathers and applying their wisdom to the problems of today: immigration, the culture wars, the war against global terrorism, national (and personal) debt, even the epidemic of obesity that is killing more Americans than terrorists do. With the optimistic, get your-hands-dirty, can-do spirit that typifies what’s best about America, Chuck Norris grapples with the toughest problems facing our country and proves that they’re no match for Black Belt Patriotism.
SketchUp, Beam House
Right now it is finals season at my college, which as y’all know is a very stressful time. To get me through it I have been playing with this great program, Google SketchUp. Over this week I have gotten pretty good at it, so I decided to show y’all one of the designs I have done, inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright’s Gordon House, I called it the Beam House.
This house was designed to be on a lot with a view. To take advantage of that view to the greatest amount while still leaving the feeling of privacy I made the entrance side very heavy, with minimum amount of ground level windows.
This would be the side directly facing the view. As can be seen it has a lot of glass, plus the heavy stone wall too anchor it. You can also see the fireplace at the end of the glass room, which is the main living space of the house, the great room, living room, dinning room, kitchen.
This side would be facing some nice private woods. The main room has the living room at the close end, and the kitchen towards the back. The glass all the way towards the back is a family room on the first floor and the master bedroom up above.

Father Daughter Chat

Father-Daughter Talk
A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many
others her age, she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat, and
among other liberal ideals, was very much in favor of higher taxes to
support more government programs, in other words, redistribution of
wealth.
She was deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican, a
feeling she openly expressed. Based on the lectures that she had
participated in, and the occasional chat with a professor, she felt that
her father had for years harbored an evil, selfish desire to keep what he
thought should be his.
One day she was challenging her father on his opposition to higher taxes
on the rich and the need for more government programs. The self-professed
objectivity proclaimed by her professors had to be the truth and she
indicated so to her father. He responded by asking how she was doing in
school.
Taken aback, she answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let
him know that it was tough to maintain, insisting that she was taking a
very difficult course load and was constantly studying, which left her no
time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn’t even have
time for a boyfriend, and didn’t really have many college friends because
she spent all her time studying.
Her father listened then asked, ‘How is your friend Audrey doing?’ She
replied, ‘Audrey is barely getting by. All she takes are easy classes, she
never studies, and she barely has a 2.0 GPA. She is so popular on campus;
college for her is a blast. She’s always invited to all the parties, and
lots of times she doesn’t even show up for classes because she’s too hung
over.’
Her father asked her, ‘Why don’t you go to the Dean’s office and ask him
to deduct a 1.0 off your GPA and give it to your friend Audrey, who only
has a 2.0. That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would
be a fair and equal distribution of GPA.
‘The daughter, visibly shocked by her father’s suggestion, angrily fired
back, ‘That’s a crazy idea. How would that be fair? I’ve worked really
hard for my grades! I’ve invested a lot of time, and a lot of hard work.
Audrey has done next to nothing toward her degree. She
played while I worked my tail off!’
The father slowly smiled, winked and said gently ‘Welcome to the
Republican Party.

The Hypocritic GOP

I think this cartoon really says it all. It is sad in my opinion that our party is down to this level. With 40% of congress being republicans, we still held up our 40% for junk spending. It is not right to self justify saying “they spent more”. We are not down to their level, we need to be above the democrats socialist agenda.
